Basant, is Punjab’s award-winning brand, which manufactures, supplies, and retails a wide variety of ice creams in and around Punjab. What started as handmade Kulfi retail on bicycle by Late Sardar Lal Singh in 1952 is today a well-known ice cream brand, efficiently managed by the third generation of the family.

Similar to most of the companies, Dessert Bar by Basant offers many flavours but still their specialty is Khoya Kulfi, Faluda Kulfi and Dry Fruit Ice Cream, which is quite popular amongst North Indians. The brand also offers a variety of sugar-free ice creams for health conscious people.

About Us
Third Generation Forays
After gaining a foothold in ice cream manufacturing, Sardar Rajinder Singh opened a premium ice cream parlour in 1992 in Ludhiana to give the best ice cream experience to its patrons. He was joined by his sons Charanjit and Kanwalpreet who helped him expand the business by introducing Chinese food and bakery varieties into the parlours, which got great response from the patrons. As a result, the business grew across the Ludhiana city.
In 2002, Charanjit Singh got the responsibility of managing Basant’s ultramodern ice cream factory at Rajguru Nagar in Ludhiana, which is well equipped with imported machineries from Italy to manufacture high quantity ice creams using superior quality ingredients and advanced techniques. The factory supplies to different states in North India, including Punjab, Rajasthan, Haryana, Himachal and Jammu.
Notably, Charanjit Singh is professionally qualified in ice cream technology from Italy. With over 25 years of experience, he regularly participates in ice cream exhibitions in different countries around the world. Till date, he has participated in Italy, Germany, China, Dubai and the USA.
Award-Winning Brand
Remarkably, Dessert Bar by Basant is the proud recipient of many awards. The brand won four Gold awards and one Bronze award at the Great India Ice Cream Contest organized by the Indian Dairy Association in 2016. Dessert Bar by Basant was judged by a panel of 20 judges from over 2000 ice cream samples of different companies based on flavour, colour, melting point, texture and overall quality.
Growing retail presence
Presently, Dessert Bar by Basant sells around 30 metric tonnes of ice creams a day through its 10 self-owned premium ice cream parlours, studios, kiosks and hundreds of retailers. By 2021, the brand aims to sell about 1 lakh litres of ice creams through 200 premium parlours in the northern India region.
